Sam Schimmel - Stanford Graduate and Experienced Alaska Law Clerk

Stanford University graduate Sam Schimmel spent his first summer of law school as a law clerk with the Alaska Native Justice Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Sam followed up his second summer as a rising 3L law student working for multiple law firms in Alaska. The Stanford alumnus has also owned and operated Ursus Alaska in Kenai since 2018. When he is not managing business operations at Ursus Alaska, Sam is working with his consulting business Painted Bear Consulting, to support Alaska Native and Native American tribes and businesses.
Sam is the Co-Chair of the Tikahtnu Inter-Tribal Fish Commission, representing the federally recognized tribes of the Cook Inlet.

Sam Schimmel’s academic background includes the pursuit of a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown Law Center, expected graduation May 2025, and a political science degree from Stanford. He has served as a guest speaker at gatherings such as the Values Driven Economy Conference, the Aspen Ideas Climate Summit, and the Arctic Circle Assembly, among others.
